DIY Install Details

  • Deciding on a correct size is crucial when ordering DIY retractable insect screens and there is a few considerations you should take into account. Firstly, there is two ways they can be mounted – Inner Sill Mounted and Architrave Mounted.
  • Inner Sill Mounted retractable insect screens are fixed internally of the window frame and require a minimum 50mm to allow room inside the window frame recess for the aluminium housing to sit.
  • To measure correctly for the Inner Sill Mounting, measure from L/H to R/H internally of your window frame for the width, and top to bottom internally of the window frame for your height.

  • Architrave Mounted retractable insect screens are fixed externally on the window frame to the face of the architrave. This option is great for window frames that do not have the required minimum 50mm recess space for the Inner Sill Mounting, allowing you that extra option in screening those hard to screen windows.
  • To measure correctly for the Architrave Mounted option, measure from the outside edge of the L/H architrave to the outside edge of the R/H architrave bordering your window for the width. Then measure from the top outside edge of the top architrave to the bottom on the window frame for the height.
